Imphal, March 21 2017:
The All Manipur VDF Welfare Association has appealed to the State Government to fulfil the association's demand at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today , Md Riyaz Khan, spokesperson of the association said, "The State Government has not given any positive response till date to the demands made by the association.
The decision taken by Manipur Government in December last year to increase the salary by Rs 2000 has not been put into practice even till now" .
He said, "The State Government had vowed to make good on their promise as soon as the election was over and the code of conduct was withdrawn" .
Riyaz Khan expressed belief that the new Government would fulfil the long time demand of the association and bring further improvements for the VDF personnel and appealed to the Government to provide a positive response by April 5 .
He threatened intense agitation if the demands are not met by then and added that the State Government does not provide any kind of facilities for the VDF personnel in case of any casualties.
Riyaz said, "A VDF personnel was among those injured in the ambush during the former Chief Minister's Tengnoupal district inauguration trip.
He has not fully recovered from his injuries yet and the Government has not given any kind of aid or support till now.
"Due to lack of support, it has been decided that Rs 200 would be gathered from each of the VDF personnel present in the 16 districts as the Association's fund in order to help the VDF personnel in case of injuries or sickness and added that the Association would be operated by five members" .
