Search ops held ahead of R-Day

Imphal, January 20 2020: District police of Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal and Bishnupur intensified their security measures for the coming Republic day 2020 by carrying out house to house and cordon search operations in their respective districts today.

A team of Imphal West district commando conducted cordon and search operation at Singjamei Oinam Thingel area during which more than 10 males and 80 females were verified.

7 individuals were detained and handed over to Singjamei PS for necessary verification.

The same team conducted cordon and search operation at Singjamei Super Market and Chingamakhong area in the afternoon.

During the operation, more than 150 individuals were verified by the police team and three individuals without proper identity proofs were later handed over to Singjamei PS for proper verification.

The team also conducted cordon and search operation at Dharmasala and Alu Galli area wherein 15 individuals were detained and handed over to City PS for proper verification.

Similarly, a team of Thoubal commando along with women police personnel, conducted cordon search and house to house search operation at Langthabal Maning Leikai area.

More than 130 houses were searched during the operation and around 250 individuals of the area (both male and female) were verified.

However, no one was detained.

The same police team conducted search operation at Khekman Ammokon Leikai.

Around 30 houses were searched and more than 70 individuals were verified.

Here too, no one was detained.

A team of Bishnupur district commando also conducted cordon and search operation at Nambol Bazar today afternoon.

Around 250 individuals were verified while 4 individuals were handed over to Nambol PS for verification.

Similarly, Imphal East district commando also conducted cordon and search operation at Kangla Sangomshang Awang Leikai.

More than 100 people were verified during the search operation.

A youth was detained for further verification by the police team.
