IED blast rocks Moirangkhom

Imphal, September 19 2015 : IED exploded at thickly populated Moirangkhom area at around 5.15 am today but there is no report of any casualty.

According to information culled from the spot, the IED exploded just outside the compound wall of Laishram Modhumangol, retired SSB Senior Field Assistant located opposite to Moirangkhom Keithel.

The impact of the blast left a hole one foot in diameter on the brick wall.

It shattered the rear windscreen of a Ford Eco Sport car parked at the residence of Modhumangol.

The blast also a damaged a few ventilators of Modhu-mangol's house as well as windows of the neighbouring Sougaijam family.

However, there is no report of any human casualty.

It is suspected that the explosive was of mediocre intensity.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Imphal police station.

According to Shitalkumar, Modhumangol's son, there was no case of any monetary demand or intimidation by any UG group to their family.

Nonetheless, one hand grenade exploded at their residence in the night of July 20, 2009.A few days before the grenade attack, another hand grenade was lobbed at the residence though it did not go off, Shitalkumar said.

Local Meira Paibi activist Aribam (O) Mema appealed to all concerned to refrain from such activities in future as it could result in heavy casualties as the area is thickly populated by civilians.
