Imphal, August 19 2015:
BJP Manipur Pradesh has blamed the State Government for the violent confrontation that broke out at Moreh yesterday.
Speaking to media persons at their Nityaipat Chuthek office this afternoon, BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba said that most people believe that there are lots of non-residents at Jiribam and Moreh.
If any agitation related to the issue of ILPS should be staged at such places, the Government should have put in place adequate security measures.
It was known in advance that a pro-ILPS rally was being planned at Moreh.
It was a failure on the part of the Government that they did not take up necessary security measures even after knowing about the planned mass rally.
The incumbent Government has failed to maintain law and order even at Imphal, Chaoba alleged.
Expressing pain over the unfortunate incident, Chaoba said that properties worth Rs 1.5 crore were destroyed in the confrontation.
The Govt should compensate for the lost properties, he said while appealing to all concerned to remain calm and avert such incidents in future.
Dr RK Ranjan highlighted the need to deployment additional security forces at Mor- eh and Jiribam where large chunks of non-residents are believed to have concentrated.
