Jiribam, September 18 2024:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president K Meghachandra has reportedly sent an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Manipur.
Meghachandra himself went to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) to hand over the invitation.
Speaking to the media at Silchar Press Club, Meghachandra asked why the Prime Minister is still not visiting Manipur which has been burning for over 16 months.
The MPCC chief asked how Amit Shah can say that there was no major violence in Manipur in the last three months when thousands of people of otherwise peaceful Jiribam were made to flee and take refuge elsewhere.
He also said that Kuki militants deployed drones and rockets to attack civilians only recently.
Two persons were killed in the drone bombings at Koutruk and Kadangband area on September 1 while another elderly man was killed in a rocket attack at Moirang on September 6.Asking whether Amit Shah is oblivious of what has been happening in Manipur, he added that the Union Home Minister trying to mislead the people was unfortunate.
