Sandangsenba villagers refute claims by Andro chief

No dead bodies had been cremated in Andro area and the place where dead bodies had been cremated is about 1 km away from Chaphu Uppi.
Dr ML Dominic Kansowa, advisor, Sandangsenba Maring Village Authority said this today at a press meet held at Imphal and refuted claims made by chief of Andro, Ch Gandhar that a dead body had recently been cremated at Chaphu Uppi, which is a religious site sacred to the people of Andro.
Dr Dominic added that a villager of Sandangsenba Maring Village, by the name of KS Medar had died recently and was cremated at a site well inside the village land which was about 1km away from Chaphu Uppi.
Regarding this same issue, the two village had reached an agreement at Andro Police Station on March 13 in the presence of Imphal East SDPO, Range Officer, Nongmaiching and OC, Andro Police Station and agreed to raise the issue to relevant authority and accept the verdict of the authority, maintain peace and tranquility in the area and not cause any law and order problem, he added.
Dr Dominic alleged that the Andro chief had violated all the previous agreements and sought attention from relevant authority in this regard.
Dr Dominic also told the media that Sandangsenba Maring Village was formed in 1929 at the same place.
Prior to that our forefathers had settled at a place higher up in the mountain called Uran Maring.
