N Rohit case: Locals stage protest

A sit in protest was staged at Heirok Part-II Mayai Leikai Primary School demanding justice for Ningthoujam Rohit who was shot dead at his own house by some armed persons on December 21 night.
The protest demonstration was staged by women of Heirok on hearing that the six accused will be produced before the Court, today.
The protesters urged the State Government and authority concerned to book the killers under NSA and disclose the weapons used.
One of the protesters Tourangbam (O) Meena Devi said that the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of N Rohit will stage more protests until their demands are met.
She asked why the State is not able to seize the weapons which were used to kill Rohit right in front of his parents.
Yesterday, the JAC volunteers stormed Heirok police station for its alleged sloppinnes in proceeding with the case.
It may be noted that a SIT had been formed to investigate the case.
Meanwhile, the Chief Judicial Magistrate Thoubal remanded the six accused to judicial custody till February 1 .
Accused Thokchom Henrik @ Naobi Singh (29) s/o Th Ibosana Singh of Heirok Part I Mayai Leikai, Khundongbam Nicky @ Anju Singh (33) s/o Kh Raghuchandra Singh of Heirok Part II Mayai Leikai, Laishram Biken Singh (23) s/o L Bimol Singh of Heirok Part II Mayai Leikai, Thokchom Bishworjit @ Putro Singh (40) s/o Th Ibochouba Singh of Heirok Part II Thokchom Leikai, Ningthoujam Panan Singh (30) s/o N Muhindro Singh of Heirok Part III Tourangbam Leikai, Thokchom Sanathoi @ Lai Singh (34) s/o Th Dijen @ Lakpati Singh of Heirok Part II Mayai Leikai were produced before the Court virtually from Manipur Central Jail Sajiwa.
