Maharaja Chandrakirti auditorium inaugurated

The newly constructed Maharaja Chandrakirti Auditorium of Department of Art and Culture, Palace Compound has been inaugurated today by the Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh.
The occasion also served as the closing ceremony of the 3-day Folk Dance and Music Festival and distribution of 'Young Talent Artistes Award 2012-13' organised by the Department under the aegis of North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur.
Exuding confidence that the auditorium would be enable young and talented artistes to further hone their skill, the Chief Minister conceded that initial target to complete the auditorium 2-3 years back could not be accomplished due to fund constraints.
Affirming that the State Government will do the needful to enable artistes exhibit their talent at national and international level, he also stated that presence of talented artistes and cultural development have tremendous potential to spur development in the tourism sector.

To most tourists natural beauty and cultural activities of a particular place are essential ingredients, the CM also affirmed that development of tourist spots would be undertaken by the Government in both the valley and hill areas.
Ibobi also presented Manipuri Nata Sankirtana (Pung) awards to Yumnam Bhumeshwor of Langmeidong Mamang Leikai and Moirangthem Khomeiton Singh of Tentha Heibung (Thoubal district) and Handicraft award to Paonam Bhogen Singh of yurembam Makha Maning Leikai.
Each of the awards carry Rs 10,000 and certificate.
As a part of the event, cultural troupes of Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Aruna-chal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Tripura, Sikkim, Mizoram, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal also performed.
