Senapati, September 17 2024:
The United Naga Council (UNC) has condemned the September 14 bomb blast at the residence of Transport Minister Khashim Vashum in Ukhrul district.
In a statement, the UNC said it was shocked to learn about the heinous attack at the residence of the Minister carried out by 'senseless criminals' in the midst of peaceful Ukhrul town.
It was an abominable act of dehumanization and an attempt to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in the region.
Intimidation or threat perception to achieve one's evil desire is not at all a means to solve problems, said the UNC.
Such an attack on the life and properties of the elected representative is not just a mere assault on his family but a challenge to all peace loving citizens who are bound under the 'rule of law,' it stated, calling for a prompt and earnest investigation on the incident by all authorities concerned.
Further, stringent exemplary punishment should be awarded to the culprits involved, UNC said.
The UNC also issued words of caution "to all the Njiga brethren to remain steadfast and vigilant over the sinister policies-designs and evil forces of the adversaries; ever frying to divide and sabotage the unity and aspiration" .
