Jessami sensitised to drug menace

Imphal, September 17 2012: In view of increasing cases of abusing drugs and alcohol among the youth in Jessami, the Jessami Shanao Long (Mahila Panchayat) today organized an awareness programme on drugs and alcohol abuse successfully at the village council office today.

The programme was attended by more than 500 persons.

The programee started with an exhortation by the village chairman, W.Ayete who appealed to the villagers to stop selling alcohol and drugs and empower the Shanao Long to take necessary actions against those indulge in these unlawful activities.

The Jessami Shanao Long President Mrs Peimila Wezah said that they are organizing this kind of programme in order to bring about changes in the life of youths.

The President and other womenfolk who attended the programme pledged that with the power vested upon them, they will try their best to control sale and abuse of alcohol and drugs in Jessami.
