Imphal, August 16 2013 :
DESAM has strongly condemned the office memorandum issued by Higher Education Department which prohibits college students from undertaking any kind of agitation or movement terming it a direct infringement upon the right to education.
Speaking to reporters at their office here, DESAM vice-president Quoting the order issued by the Secretariat, Higher Education Department on August 5 that students or college students should lodge their complaints with the respective Principals, not to any one outside, Angamba said that it was humiliating students.
On the other hand, DESAM and respective students' unions have been asking authorities concerned to appoint regular college Principals, regular Director and make up shortages.
A number of memorandums have been submitted and many movements have been undertaken in pursuit of these demands but to no avail so far, he decried.
For any grievances, students can take their complaints even to the levels of Prime Minister, HRD Minister or the President of India.
The controversial clause of the office memorandum should be removed or the memorandum should be modified altogether, Angamba added.
