Pradhan 'threatened', MSF banned

Imphal, April 16 2015 : Manipur Students Federation (MSF) president K Sirazuddin alle-gedly threatened Moirangthem (O) Nungshirei, Pradhan of Khongman Zone- III Gram Panchayat last night using derogatory words regarding the public boycott of the UNACCO.

M Nungshirei made this statement at a press meet held today at her Khongman Zone- III residence.

She said that the ban imposed upon UNACCO was the collective decision of a public meeting held on March 29 where the local MLA and the Pradhan were also present.

She added that it was not the decision of Khongman Student Club, Oriental Club and Social Workers Congress of Khongman alone to ban UNACCO school and they cannot revoke the decision adopted at the public meeting.

People of Khongman have been exploring every possible options to solve the issue of UNACCO.

Such threatening moves made by the president of a State level student organization must be condemned at the highest level and the student body has been banned by the clubs of Khongman, added Joychand Moirang-them, vice-president of Khongman Student Club.

He asserted that the public leaders of Khongman are trying their level best to work out a solution and save the academic career of UNACCO school students, and such move made by a student organization can undermine the efforts of the people.

Kshetrimayum Chaoba, a member of Social Workers Congress, Khongman asked the president of MSF to come up with a clarification with regard to the statement he made against the Pradhan of Khongman Zone- III Gram Panchayat.

Meanwhile, a sit in protest was also staged in front of UNACCO school by local people of Khongman Lisham Leirak supporting the boycott of UNACCO by the public of Khongman.

A protester, W Sumati stated that the ban imposed by the public against the UNACCO authorities will not be revoked unless the demands are met.
