Imphal, March 16 2021:
The BJP-led Government is "not able to finish a single project" taken up in four years of its existence, said CPI State secretary L Sotinkumar today.
At a press meet today, on behalf of the Left parties, Sotinkumar said the BJP-led Government launching new projects and inaugurating schemes celebrating its 4 years of 'citizen centric governance' is a propaganda in the face of elections to blind the people for votes.
Four years ago, during the General Assembly elections campaign, the BJP had promised that it would make Imphal-Jiribam Highway a four lane road.
Above this, it had also promised to build and complete Barak and Makru bridge.
However, all these promises have not been fulfilled till today, he said.
Asking what projects have been successfully launched and completed by the Chief Minister N Biren Singh led Government in the last four years, Sotinkumar said many projects launched by this Government are yet to be completed and serve their actual purposes.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the Dolaithabi Dam, but the project is not able to provide irrigation water to farmers at Khundrakpam Assembly Constituency till today.
The Government is yet to build a district hospital for Imphal East in the Constituency, he said.
Asking the Government how much of Manipur's land have been lost to Myanmar, he said people had cried to save Manipur's land when Border Pillar No 81 was allegedly found moved several metres inside the State's territory.
The Government in Parliament had then stated that India had not lost land to Myanmar, he added.
Sotinkumar also claimed that Manipur University is not able to rank within 100 best universities in India because an "unfit man" was made its Vice Chancellor which affected the academic atmosphere for months.
He was referring to then VC AP Pandey.
Stating that it took long enough time in removing him from office, the Left leader asked if this was the Government's achievement.
Mounting attacks on the BJP-led Governments at the Centre and the State, Sotinkumar said prices of commodities including petrol, diesel and LPG have skyrocketed.
On the problems of drugs, he said the State Government has not yet approached a higher Court for appeal in several major drug haul cases despite public cry.
After acquittal of the accused persons in drug cases by the Court, people have been urging the State Government to appeal the cases to a higher Court.
Why is the Government not appealing the cases to a higher Court if it is committed in its war on drugs? he asked.
To bring about a changed and positive society, people should root out the existing governance, he added.
