Imphal, November 15 2010:
Setting November 19 as the deadline for giving a written assurance to the effect that the approved alignment of the proposed railway route will not be changed/altered, the Joint Action Committee on restoration of Jiri-Tupul Railway line has warned of gheraoing all work sites from the following day if the demand is not met.
Issuing a statement in this regard, the JAC lamented that despite calling a 24-hour State wide general strike from midnight of October 25 and submission of numerous memorandum, the authorities concerned have turned a deaf ear to its demand.

So, the JAC has been compelled to issue a deadline, the statement jointly signed by its chairman L Touthang and secretary PK Haokip said, adding categorically that the JAC will not be responsible for any untoward incident that may occur during the course of the gheraoing at the work sites.
Change in the alignment of the rail track was suggested following the decision to extend the rail line upto Imphal.
