Contraband item worth Rs 2 crore seized

Imphal, September 15 2018: In continuation of back to back recoveries of contraband drugs, Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) caught 40,000 numbers of WY tablets found inside the Dash Board and Gear Box of the vehicle.

On 15th September, at around 12 PM based on specific input received from own reliable source of DRI (Directorate of Revenue Intelligence), Imphal regarding smuggling of contraband drugs, a silver coloured Wagon R travelling from Moreh to Pallel was stopped at PVCP, Khudengthabi in Tengnoupal district for checking.

On thorough checking of baggage and vehicle, WY tablets were found inside the Dash Board and Gear Box of the vehicle.

Approximate cost of the contraband drug is Rs 2 crore.

The apprehendee Mr L D Shokhokhai, age 36 years of Moreh Part-1, Tengnoupal district along with recovered item was handed over to Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Imphal.
