Internal differences would be resolved soon: CM

Chief Minister N Biren has categorically stated that all the lingering differences and grievances among the ruling MLAs would be resolved shortly.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of a joint Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders Day held today at the Chief Minister's Secretariat, Biren said that 40 MLAs are supporting his Government and it is natural for some MLAs to have certain grievances against the Government but it is an internal matter.
Claiming that the differences among the ruling MLAs have not affected governance in any manner, the Chief Minister asserted that all the MLAs have been discharging their duties properly although some of them are currently outside the State.
Now most of the MLAs have come back and they are being communicated.
The situation will soon return to normalcy, he claimed.
To another query regarding Ministry reshuffling, the Chief Minister stated that Ministry reshuffle may be effected in accordance with the advice of BJP central leaders but only after the simmering grievances are resolved.
Notably, a considerable number of the ruling MLAs started expressing string dissent against the leadership of Chief Minister N Biren since the first week of June.
By mid-June, the State ran into an overdraft of Rs 274 crore and RBI banned all financial transactions of the State Government.
Subsequently, Chief Minister N Biren divested Finance portfolio from Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar, Works and Power portfolios from Th Biswajit.
Moreover, an enquiry committee led by the Principal Secretary (Finance) was instituted to enquire into withdrawal of huge amount of funds from Works and Power Departments between March and May this year when the Lok Sabha election model code of conduct was in force.
On being enquired about the enquiry, the Chief Minister replied that the enquiry was instituted to ascertain the circumstances which led RBI to ban financial transactions of the State Government.
The enquiry is going on at present but there is no sign of any major lapses.
The findings of the enquiry committee would be made public when the time is right, Biren said.
As for the recent controversy over the correct position of a border pillar on Moreh sector of Indo-Myanmar boundary, a joint survey had been carried by officials of the State Government, Myanmar Government and Assam Rifles.
All such controversies would be resolved through peaceful dialogue between the two countries and joint surveys would be carried out from time to time, he said.
To another query, the Chief Minister conveyed that the Central Government has given its consent to update the National Register of Citizens (NRC) with respect to Manipur and set up a population commission.
He said that due process is already underway to set up a population commission and update the NRC.
The Chief Minister also lauded the media for their commendable humanitarian service and their role in creating consciousness and promoting various welfare schemes in the society.
He appealed the media houses to support the Government towards bringing inclusive development in the State.
Under the 'War against Drugs' campaign, a combined team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) and police busted a brown sugar manufacturing factory which led to the seizure of large quantity of drugs worth over Rs 100 crore in the international market.
Those police and NAB personnel who took part in the crackdown will be given due recognition in the forthcoming Independence Day celebration, 2019.Those personnel will be given Chief Minister's Commendation Award for their outstanding service and the Government will felicitate the team tomorrow with a reward of Rs 10 lakh, added the Chief Minister.
Maintaining that farmers have heaved a sigh of relief as monsoon has finally arrived in the region, he stated that the Government has been trying its best to provide irrigation facilities to the paddy fields of the State.
A large number of irrigation pumpsets were distributed to farmers recently while various River Lift Irrigation (RLI) schemes have started functioning so as to provide irrigation water in various parts of the State.
The Government will procure more Irrigation pump sets to combat any water shortage for agriculture in the State, Biren stated.
During the function, the Chief Minister handed over a loan cheque of Rs 7 lakh to Mayengbam Shyamchandra Meitei, a progressive farmer from Wangoo, Kakching district.
The loan is being given by Manipur State Co-operative Bank.
The Chief Minister personally attended to around 400 complaints and met nearly 1200 people from 9 am to 2.30 pm.
Principal Secretary (Health) and Nodal Officer of Meeyamgi Numit Vumlunmang Vualnam, Commissioner (Planning) and OSD to CM Sumant Singh, Secretary to CM N Geoffrey, IG (Adm) IK Muivah and other senior Government officials assisted the Chief Minister in assessing people's complaints.
Officials of different Government departments like Health, Minority, Other Backward Classes and Scheduled Castes, Social Welfare, Education (S), SBI, Manipur State Co-operative Bank Ltd.
and Police were also present at the CM's Secretariat complex to resolve people's grievances instantly.
