The State Bank of India's first Rural Self Employment Training Institute in the State was officially inaugurated here today by Parliamentary Secretary Vungzagin Valte at its temporary office located at Lamka College.
Training in the institute commenced about three months back with 68 students; 15 on hand embroidery, 20 on mobile servicing and 33 on dress designing completing their course on the institute's officials inauguration day.
Additionally about 36 trainees for two other trades - beauty parlour and two-wheeler repairing will be graduating in a short while as they have as well attended the course some months back, according to the Director SBI-RSETI Churachandpur Arunkumar Khangembam.
An individual has already donated land for the institute and it will only be a matter of time for the institute to have its own building, said a source.
The institute is intended to offer unemployed youths in rural areas the basic skill and knowledge on how to go about and to help them earn their own livelihood.
The SBI has a plan to introduce it across the state.
The inauguration ceremony, that also witnessed the distribution of certificates to the first batch of trainees, was also attended by Mannuamching, CEO ADC Churachandpur; Khaikhopau Ngaihte BO Hqtrs; Sothang Haokip, Chief Manager (Rural) SBI's Regional office, Imphal and other bank and district officials.
