Imphal, January 15 2022:
A strong indication of disunity within BJP has arisen in Khundrakpam Assembly Constituency as a new BJP unit has been floated there allegedly in the presence of BJP Khudrakpam Mandal.
Speaking to media persons at Khundrakpam Awang Leikai where the office of new BJP Khundrakpam Mandal is situated, its working president K Hemanta officially announced the formation of the new party Mandal.
He said that the new Mandal is being formed with the support of six intending candidates for the State Assembly election as the old Mandal works in the interest of only one BJP intending candidate without having a slight knowledge of how many intend to contest on the party ticket.
Hemanta continued that the new Mandal has five representatives of each of the six BJP intending candidates of Khundrakpam AC namely Elangbam Sovid, Th Muhindro, I Mangiton, Ksh Kala, T Mina and Keithelakpam Ronel.
He further said that the six candidates have agreed to support the one who receives the party ticket.
The other BJP Khundrakpam Mandal said that they don't recognise the new Mandal during a press meet held at Yumnam Khunou.
Vice president of this Mandal, Ningombam Ranjan said that there is no issue of bifurcation of BJP Khundrakpam Mandal.
Saying that the original Mandal has many branches under its wing, Ranjan said that the Mandal has also chalked out strategies as a part of Congress Mukt Bharat campaign to win the ensuing election.
It is unfortunate that a group of people is trying to depict BJP Khundrakpam Mandal in a bad light, he added.
