Imphal, January 15 2020:
The Congress party has expressed desire for the recruitment of two IRB battalions to be conducted through the Optical Mark Recognition For Reading system (OMR), if the ruling Government is indeed serious about eradicating corruption and other unethical practices during such processes.
Speaking to media persons at Rishang Keishing Media Centre, Congress Bhawan today, MPCC general secretary and former MLA M Prithiviraj said that the Congress party lauds the statement made by Chief Minister N Biren Singh recently to eradicate corruption during recruitment, posting and transfer etc and to curb nepotism and favouritism.
He then conveyed that if the State Government is indeed serious, then OMR system should be implemented during the recruitment process of the IRB battalions which will begin from January 20.This system will ensure that there is no room for manipulation in the answer scripts, Prithiviraj suggested, informing that the system has already been implemented in Bihar and as such, it can also be done similarly in Manipur.
If the Government feels that implementing OMR system will take time, then it (Govt) can postpone the recruitment tests for some time, he added.
Further lauding the Chief Minister for assuring to provide quality belts and shoes/boots to the police personnel, the former MLA expressed desire for the Government to be transparent when it comes to the quality and standard of the new items supplied to the police force.
If the items were certified by the Director General of Supply Board (DGS) under the Commerce and Industries Department, then all doubts will be laid to rest as the items supplied to the security forces under the Central Government are all certified by the DGS, he added.
Prithiviraj also sought the attention of the Chief Minister to ensure regular flight service between Imphal and Mandalay.
On the other hand, MPCC vice president and former Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar also lauded Chief Minister N Biren for his assurance and appeal to ensure corruption free IRB recruitment, posting and transfer process.
He further urged the CM and the Government to perform their task in a transparent manner and to show the results through work and accomplishments instead of promises and assurances.
