KSSW 2024 : Technology Showcasing cum Kisan Ghosti, Rabi Awareness Campaign held

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Imphal East, Directorate of Extension Education, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal organised a "Technology Showcasing cum Kisan Ghosti" programme at its campus in Andro, Imphal East district today.
The programme conducted as part of the Krishi Swama Samridhi Week (KSSW) 2024 was attended by dignitaries including Khumanthem Diana, Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East; Dr Y Prabhabati Devi, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Imphal East; Maibam Sabitri, Zilla Parishad Nominee, Tulihal Gram Panchayat; Ph Premila, District Agriculture Officer, Imphal East and Prof Ph Ranjit Sharma, Director, Directorate of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, Khumanthem Diana appealed to the farmers to consult agriculture experts/scientists to increase their harvest of crops.
She also stressed on the need for the farmers to adopt the latest scientific method of agriculture and grow crops suitable to the changing environment.
Stating that KVK Imphal East has been conducting various programmes for the welfare of the formers, she appealed to participate in the training programmes conducted from time-to-time to learn new knowledge & skills.
The DC also asserted that people are becoming more aware of the potential health benefits of organic foods, as well as the environmental impacts of traditional fanning practices.
"Thus, more emphasis needs to be given towards production of organic items", she suggested.
Khumanthem Diana also appealed to the people to avail the benefits of the schemes/ programmes launched by the Government for the betterment of farmers.
Demonstration of agricultural technology, showcasing of products made by local farmers & entrepreneurs, interaction with experts/ scientists, and distribution of winter crops seeds and mini sprayers were the main highlights of the event.
Moreover, KVK Imphal East in collaboration with Prince Club Waiton also organised a "Rabi Awareness Campaign cum Farmers' Scientist Interaction Programme" at Waiton Multipurpose Community Hall today.
The event conducted as part of the Krishi Swama Samridhi Week 2024 was attended by P Surbala, former Pradhan, Waiton Gram Panchayat; Dr T Matoulei Chanu, Deputy Director, Directorate of Extension Education, CAU Imphal and Dr Y Prabhabati Devi as presidium members.
During the programme, scientists of KVK Imphal East enlightened the fanners about different cultivation techniques, soil health management, value addition, etc.
Altogether, 120 farmers from Waiton Itam Nungoi and Lamboikhul participated in the programme.
