Imphal, November 13 2024:
A coalition of 13 organisations has submitted a memorandum addressed to Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya at Raj Bhavan with a demand to rescue the three women and three children who have been abducted by Kuki militants today.
The memorandum was jointly submitted by IPAK, IPSA, ACOAM Lup, PANDM, ERDO, LOYALUP, KSA, KANGLA MEI, KIL, CLK, MIKL, AKSIL and SWA.
After submitting the memorandum, Nahakpam Shanta, on behalf of the organisations, said that the memorandum was submitted through the Under Secretary of Governor as the Governor is currently in Assam.
Asking why the Centre is unable to stop the aggression of Kuki militants, he said that people have lost faith in the security forces as they could not protect the lives and properties of the people.
He also said that the Central and the State Governments not taking any action against those who are imposing a blockade and causing inflation is unacceptable.
Saying that they are ready to launch an intense agitation if the Government and its agencies fail to trace and rescue the six individuals who have been taken captive by Kuki militants, Shanta said that they may take a strong resolution against the elected representatives if they could not protect the people.
He meanwhile thanked the people for supporting the 24 hour shutdown called by the 13 organisations.
