Imphal, September 13 2019:
Kuki Inpi Manipur has submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, through Chief Minister N Biren Singh today, urging that justice be delivered for the massacre of 905 innocent Kukis including children, pregnant mothers etc, uprooting 360 villages and seizing land as well as displacing more than 100,000 Kuki people and rendering them homeless by the NSCN (IM) .
Speaking to media persons at Kuki Inn, Imphal today, president of Kuki Inpi Manipur Khaimang Chongloi said the memo explained that September 13 marks the darkest day in Kuki history as on this day, in 1993, the NSCN (IM) killed more than 118 innocent Kuki civilians belonging to Joupi Kuki village and Gelnel village in Tamenglong and Senapati districts.

The memo stated that after the United Naga Council's quit notice to the Kukis on October 22, 1992, the horrendous pogrom lasted for 5 years which saw more than 360 villages burnt, their land forcibly annexed with the brutal massacre of more than 1000 Kuki people including women and children leading to the internal displacement of more than 100000 Kukis in the State.
The Kuki Inpi Manipur has submitted several memo to the successive Government but its prayer for intervention in the case has never been heeded.
Instead the perpetrator of the Kuki genocide is being engaged in talks, not brought to justice, the memo alleged, adding that this criminal act of the NSCN (IM) grossly violated International laws and the Indian laws.
It is the full responsibility of the Central Government to settle the matter in a proper Court of law before inking any deal with NSCN (IM), KIM demanded.
Khaimang Chongloi continued that the Kukis in Manipur and other parts of the country have never raised the banner of revolt against the Union of India and added that as indigenous citizens of India, the Kuki people want to ask why the Government of India is denying justice to the Kukis and why the perpetrator of the Kuki genocide is being engaged in talks.
The Kukis are ever prepared to protect their identity, rights and the land their forefathers defended and protected during the Anglo-Kuki War of 1917-19 which the historians have called as the Kuki Rebellion/Uprising.
Any settlement with the Nagas without recognising the Kuki identity, territory and political rights can never resolve the political problems of Manipur, the memo claimed.
The memo prayed to the Central Government to fulfil the long standing demands of the Kukis to bring justice to the victims of the NSCN (IM)'s heinous crimes and to bring a solution to the protracted Kuki political problem.
On the other hand, people who took part in various protests organised in various areas of the State like Saikul (Kangpokpi), Litan (Ukhrul), Churachandpur, Tengnoupal and Moreh, also submitted similar memo to the PM through their respective DCs today.
