Khwairamband women call on Governor

Representatives of Khwairamband Ima Market led by Thingujam Rani Devi called on Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya today at Raj Bhavan and urged him to solve the ongoing impasse and restore peace and normalcy in the State, said a statement issued by the PRO Raj Bhavan.
During the visit, the women vendors submitted a memorandum to the Governor highlighting the various issues that have affected the economy and livelihoods.
The womenfolk told the Governor that all sections of the society, mostly people living in foothills and adjoining areas of the hills and the valley have been badly affected by the conflict and their economic activities have been choked.
They urged the Governor to take up appropriate steps for the State Government and the Centre to resolve the crisis at the earliest and bring normalcy.
Hearing their grievances, the Governor stated that the Centre and the State are committed to resolving the impasse between communities and all out efforts are being made for bringing a viable solution to the issue.
He said, all agencies have been directed to cooperate with each other and give their best efforts to ensure safety and security of the people.
He appealed to the women leaders to extend their fullest cooperation to the Government in bringing back complete peace and tranquillity in the State.
Meanwhile, the Raj Bhavan said Prof Krishnan Baskar, Director, HIT Senapati along with two other officials also called on the Governor today.
Prof Baskar highlighted various academic achievements of the institute and progress of infrastructure development in 150 acres of land at Mayangkhang in Senapati district.
He invited the Governor to attend the inaugural ceremony of a hostel building slated to be performed tomorrow at Imphal campus of the institute at Mantripukhri.
The Governor appreciated the institute for its contribution in imparting IT knowledge to the youths of the country.
