Gold medalist sets objectives to save environment

With an aim to save the environment and employ people irrespective of their educational qualifications, people have successfully started planting trees and producing saplings in Manipur.
Nongmaithem Ranjit (45) of Moirangkampu Awang Leikai, Imphal East district is one of those who, since the last four years, has been continuously nurturing different type of saplings successfully.
MS Malemnganbi Nursery Farm at Kangla Siphai Uku Chingjin is the place where Ranjit, along with his workers, have been working hard hoping to become a crorepati one day.

In an interview with Hueiyen Lanpao, Ranjit revealed that he has been successfully planting and producing China Teak (Paulownia), which is one of the most demanded trees around the world.
"If you plant only ten saplings of China Teak, you can become a crorepati" said Ranjit.
Suitable to the State's soil, China Teak takes at least fifteen years to become a full shape size tree and could earn at least 30 lakh rupees per tree.
Apart from the China Teak, Ranjit also plants and produce many fruit bearing treess at his farm.
His saplings cost from rupees ten to hundred while he sells the China Teak sapling for only rupees twenty.
A gold medalist in cycling in the 1989 National Games, Ranjit has already employed around eight persons at his farm and paying 300 rupees per day to male workers while paying 200 rupees to female workers.
While Ranjit is busy engaging with those coming to buy saplings from his farm, he at the same time, pick up the saplings using his DI Tata and goes to sell them at Keishampat Churanchanpur bus parking and Kwakeithel bazaar area every Sunday.
With the per day earning from selling the saplings, it is more than enough for Ranjit to manage everything for his family expenditures including paying of wages for his workers.
Ranjit has been working hard at his four year old farm along with his workers hoping to contribute his best to save the endangered environment while aiming to become a crorepati soon.
