MKS conference ends

The 39th general conference of the Maralui Karalimei Swijoikang (MKS) or Maram Students' Union, being held from January 9 under the theme "Harnessing Our Shared Cultural Heritage" came to an end yesterday on a positive note.
The second day of the cultural regale was attended by K Raina, former Deputy Speaker, Manipur as the cultural guest, according to a statement.
Speaking at the function, K Raina cautioned the gathering to keep a vigil on the tendency towards distortion of cultural values.
While urging the younger generation to be proud of the rich cultural heritage they inherit, Raina reminded the young minds to work hard in order to realize the dreams of the Maram elders, whose hopes are reposed on them.
Revisiting the past glory, the cultural event witnessed presentation of dramatised legends, folk tales narratives, indigenous and traditional games/sports.
Deputy Commissioner, Senapati, Jacintha Lazarus sent her best wishes and greetings on the occasion.
T Peter Rangnamai, Director, MANEDA spoke on "Culture�A Bond of Social Cohesion & Prosperity" during the interactive session.
The valedictory function was attended by N Kangba, BM, SBI, Imphal.
Keipila Lovity was crowned the tiara of the 'Miss MKS.' The event was attended by Col Sandeep Pandey, Commdt 35 AR.
The special attraction of the 4-day long event was the conference choir-'Lungpikalai' .
Francis Ngajokpa, Minister, RD/PR, Eco & Stats inaugurated the function.
Ng Karaiba, Dr Ngouniba Peter and MS Jerome spoke as the resource persons of the forum on 'Harnessing Our Shared Cultural Heritage' while Angamla Regina, Under Secretary, Govt of Manipur was the interface guest.
Pungdi P Celestine was unanimously elected as the president of the students' body for the fourth consecutive term, the statement added.
