Ukhrul, May 12 2020:
Raizan Katamnao Long (RKL) irked at poor and irregular Airtel network and internet service disruption in Kamjong district for nearly a week, adversely affecting different sectors.
The disruption has thereby put on hold the functioning of banking and financial transactions, dissemination of information and exchange of communication among the people.
According to RKL president C Yarmatai, inspite of their repeated appraisal to concern Airtel office in Ukhrul headquarters, they received unsatisfactory replies, leaving them in a state of despair during this crisis.
When contacted, the RKL was directed to consult with the person in-charge in Kamjong.
However, the effort yielded no positive outcome as blame game continued to pass on.
The private service provider Bharati Airtel purported negligence and dereliction in their duties in the face of COVID-19 pandemic when the internet facility is of utmost need specially to the frontline workers like health workers, security forces, law enforcement agencies, district administration, media persons and volunteers of CSOs who are constantly engaged in spreading awareness and containing the spread of the virus.
C Yarmatai further informed that the public of Kamjong were displeased with their services and the worsening of internet facilities day by day and felt the immediate need of restoring services in the border areas.
In this connection, RKL has urged service provider Bharati Airtel to do the needful and improve the internet facility without any further delay during this emergency situation.
