Hengbung promised seed processing unit

Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Director General Dr S Ayyappam has assured that a seed processing unit would be installed within the 12th Five Year Plan period at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Hengbung.
The Director General made this assurance while speaking as chief guest at the inaugural function of staff residential complex, automotive weather station, sun tracker solar irrigation system and soil testing laboratory inside the KVK complex at Hengbung in Senapati district today.
The automotive weather station, sun tracker solar irrigation system and the soil testing laboratory were taken up under the National Initiative of Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) .
He remarked that KVK Hengbung was most successful among the nine KVKs opened in Manipur.
The ICAR has prepared all the programmes that would be taken within the 12th Five Year Plan period and the same programme would be finalised in the next two/three months.

Of the many programmes that would be taken up within the 12th Five Year Plan period, some suitable programmes would be entrusted to KVK Hengbung.
Moreover, ICAR would depute scientists to the KVK if their expertise is needed in implementing the programmes, assured Dr S Ayyappam.
After inspecting various programmes being undertaken by KVK Hengbung, the Director General distributed crop seeds and sprayers to progressive farmers.
Among others, the inaugural function was attended by Senapati DC PK Jha, ICAR Deputy Director Dr KD Kokate, Central Agricultural University, Imphal VC Dr SN Puri and ICAR Zone III Shillong Zonal Project Director Dr AK Gogoi.
