CBI seeks permission to conduct lie detector test on 4 cops and a former AR Captain

Imphal, December 11 2019:
Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West, has fixed December 18 for further hearing of an application filed by CBI/SIT seeking permission to perform lie detector test/ polygraph test on four State cops and a former Captain of 23 Assam Rifles.
The application was filed by HP Meena, Dy SP, CBI AC-III, New Delhi, now attached to CBI/ SIT Manipur, before the Court in connection with their ongoing investigation in the death of Chongtham Umakanta in the intervening night of May 4 and 5, 2009, in an alleged fake encounter at the hands of a combined team of Thoubal commando and 23 Assam Rifles.
It mentioned that during the investigation by CBI, it was revealed that on the intervening night of May 4 and 5, 2009, Umakanta was picked up by some unknown persons from one of his friend's house located at Iroisemba Mayai Leikai and the next morning, he was found allegedly killed in an encounter jointly conducted by a team of Thoubal commando, headed by Jemadar Hollal Haokip, and a column of 23 Assam Rifles headed by then Captain Kaushlendra (Commander of 23 Assam Rifles Yaigangpokpi Company Operating base) .
Hollal Haokip of Moreh Ward Number 7, is presently lodged at Manipur Central Jail Sajiwa in connection with a case registered against him under ND&PS Act.
Other cops involved in the encounter case, then Rifleman Sougaijam Naba of Kakching Wairi Thongam Leikai, then Rifleman Sialloa Sumlianthang Aimol of Aimol Satu village, Pallel, then Rifleman Sh Mangtilal Vaiphei of Kamuching village are still in service while then Captain Kaushlendra of 23 Assam Rifles Yaingangpokpi COB Post, has been promoted to Lt Colonel.
After going through the submission of the CBI, the Court filed a cril misc case and fixed December 18 for further hearing of the application.
