Imphal, December 11 2015 :
A 13 year old boy sustained injuries when some unidentified persons opened fire at Beaularam village near Pallel in Chandel district at around noon today.
Some two/three persons clad in plain clothes were chasing another person.
As they opened fire in the process, one stray bullet hit a boy who was standing on the threshold of their kitchen door.
The boy who was hit on abdomen has been identified as Marim Edwin w/o Tolkham of Beaularam village.
The boy is reading in Class VI at St Paul High School, Komlathabi and he has been brought to Shija Hospital.
Even as some villagers tried to round up the armed persons, they shouted and threatened the villagers not to come near to them, informed a source.
In the next moment, a white coloured car bearing registration number LH-3462 stopped beside them and all of them went away in the car.
Although Beaularam village is located under Tengnoupal sub-division, it is just around 1 Km away to the North East.
Notably, the village is adjacent to the 26 Sector AR Hqs.
Some villagers expressed strong suspicion that the armed persons were surrendered cadres of a UG outfit who have been staying at the sector headquarters.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Tengnoupal police station in connection with the incident.
The Maring Students' Union has strongly condemned the incident and demanded the authority concerned to book the culprits at the earliest.
The injured boy has been admitted at Shija hospital.
