Imphal, September 11 2024:
The Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS), Manipur has called for a unity among the civil society organisations so as to take forward the movement of the people to safeguard the State in the right direction.
FOCS, in a statement, said that the violent campaign of Chin-Kuki-Zo terrorists against Manipur and her people has already completed the 16th month but they still continue to spread wrong information through the mainland media to cover their misdeeds and put the entire blame for the conflict to the Meeteis.
Saying that Chin-Kuki-Zo terrorists have now deploy even drones and rockets to attack innocent Meetei civilians, the Federation recounted that two Meeteis including a 31 year old mother were killed in drone assisted bombing at Koutruk on September 1 while an elderly man was killed in a rocket attack at Moirang on September 6.People have been protesting against the failure of the Security Advisor and the DGP to rein in the violence and to hand over the chairmanship of the United Command to the Chief Minister after the two incidents of aerial strikes on civilians, FOCS added.
These students and CSOs were compelled to protest against the inaction of the security forces to protect the lives and the properties of the people from the onslaught of Chin-Kuki-Zo terrorists and illegal immigrants all these months, FOCS claimed and asserted that the Security Advisor and the DGP are the enemies of the people of Manipur as they allegedly haven't shown any neutrality to control the violence.
However, the current movement the people have been taking out seems to lack coordination even though the aspiration is similar, the Federation said and added that devising a more effective strategy to carry on the movement of the people in a non violent way is the need of the hour.
FOCS suggested that taking forward the movement as one by consulting with all stakeholders concerned would be more effective to get what the people aspire.
Meanwhile, the Federation expressed delight over the Ministry of Home Affairs withdrawing two battalions of Assam Rifles from Manipur amid the allegation that 9th AR and 22 AR work in favour of Chin-Kuki-Zo terrorists.
