Death toll rises to 12

COVID-19 death toll rose to 12 today following the death of a 60 year old man at JNIMS this morning.
The man from Nongmeibung Rajbari, Imphal East was brought to JNIMS yesterday as he was suffering from health problems but he was found COVID-19 positive after testing.
The man who was said to be suffering from both diabetes and hypertension expired at around 9.30 am today.
On the other hand, a COVID-19 positive woman from Nachou, Bishnupur district delivered a baby boy at JNIMS this morning.
The baby was delivered at COVID ward amidst stringent safety measures by doctors and other healthcare staff.
Both the mother and the baby are fine, said JNIMS Director Prof Th Bhimo.
However, one Kanpatliu Kamei, an expectant mother who was first brought to JNIMS from Senapati district hospital in the early hours of August 6 died at the entrance of Shija Hospital casualty ward after she was denied admission in JNIMS, RIMS and a couple of private hospitals.
