Rape accused held, body still at morgue

Thoubal, November 10 2014:
A JAC formed in connection with the death of a student of Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School today protested along the road at Wangbal, Thoubal district demanding the authority concerned to pull up the accused at the earliest.
The accused was later reportedly arrested.
On the other hand the family members of the deceased girl have refused to claim the body, demanding justice.
The young girl was allegedly raped and then killed by her collateral related brother last night.
The incident occurred when the victim went to charge her mobile phone at the accused house.
Incidentally, the rest of the family members of the accused had gone to attend a wedding ceremony.

Taking the advantage, the accused, Thiyam Suresh Kumar (18), raped the teen.
Though, the victim was rushed to Thoubal District Hospital, she was declared brought dead by doctors.
Locals suspected that after the victim was raped, she was strangulated by the accused Suresh Kumar.
After a JAC was formed, locals then proceeded to the highway to protest.
Thoubal police personnel intervened to control the agitated mob.
The situation was ultimately brought under control after it was reported that the accused has been arrested from Sugnu.
However, locals continued and staged a sit-in protest at Yairipok waiting shed.
Students of Chaoyaima Higher Secondary school as well protested and condemned the death of the student.
Post mortem of the victim was conducted this afternoon at JNIMS mortuary with full video coverage in the presence of Duty Magistrate.
However, the family members of the victim refused to claim the body.
The body has been deposited at JNIMS morgue.
