Imphal, August 10 2015: The person accused of slitting the throat of a staff nurse of Raj Medicity yesterday who is now undergoing treatment at the same hospital has turned out to be the girl's long time boy friend.

Sagolsem Ricky (26) s/o (L) Tomba of Lairikyengbam Leikai, accused in attacking Priyarani Laitonjam, has been handed over to Nambol PS today after he surrendered before Heingang PS after committing the crime last night.

A case has been registered against the accused under FIR No 80 (8) 2015 under Section 307 IPC at Nambol PS .

Nurse attack

An emergency major operation was conducted on the nurse at Raj Medicity last night after she was rushed to the hospital.

Doctors of the hospital said that Priyarani is recuperating in the ICU of the hospital.

They also said that she is out of danger.

Meanwhile, speaking to reporters at Raj Medicity, Laitonjam Ingocha, father of the nurse, said that the accused is known to their family for the last five years.

Asserting that the act was a life attempt on his daughter, Ingocha appealed to all concerned to help them get justice in the case.

The hospital authority has also vehemently condemned the reported life attempt on its staff, who is rendering yeoman service to the society.

Haobijam Rajen, MD of Raj Medicity also appealed to all concerned not to cause harassment or disturbances to medical staff during any kind of agitation.

Meanwhile, locals today dismantled the house of the accused.
