Soil testing laboratory opened

Imphal, February 10 2016:
Department of Agriculture today, opened a soil testing laboratory at the District Agriculture Office complex at Porompat.
Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir attended at inaugural function as chief guest.
Speaking at the occasion Abdul Nasir said the Prime Minister in his recent visit to Sikkim, made a strong pitch in favour of organic farming.
The State under the aegis of the Ministry of Agriculture plans to adopt organic farming as the only farm practice in the State from April this year.
Ensuring maximum success, the Minister said the Agriculture Department and its staff will give their all to make Manipur an organic State.
He said he will consult the Chief Minister to fill up all the vacant posts at the Department.

Training programmes on soil testing laboratories will be rigorously held for maximum success of the project, the Minister stated.
Expressing happiness over the inaugural of a soil testing lab in the State, Agriculture Department Deputy Secretary N Sanatomba said the laboratory will largely benefit farmers.
Although, it is rather late compared to other States of India for the State to get its own soil testing lab, it is not too late to make advancement in the field of agriculture, Sanatomba stated.
Agriculture Director Louis Ngasainao also attended the inaugural programme.
