Poll personnel reach polling stations in Ukhrul, Kamjong

DEO, Ukhrul Dr Harmit Singh Pahuja has said that all necessary arrangement for smooth conduct of election has been made and the district is ready to go to poll on April 11.He said all polling officers were given three rounds of training on handling the EVM machine and VVPAT.
Dr Harmit said the polling officers and the security personnel are deployed according to the polling stations identified as normal, critical and vulnerable to ensure free and fair election.
A first batch of polling personnel have already moved in advance yesterday to polling stations in far flung areas of Ukhrul and Kamjong, said officials.
78 poll parties (one party comprises of 5 members) will be despatched later today while remaining 114 poll parties will start moving tomorrow from Bakshi ground, Dungrei Hungpung, Ukhrul, said officials.
23 polling stations in Ukhrul will be manned by all women polling personnel for the first time in Ukhrul.
Over one lakh including first time voters will exercise their franchise in Ukhrul.
According to the reports from Ukhrul DEO office, over 30 sector magistrates were appointed for the voting day for supervising and managing EVM machines in case of breakdown.
The district health department, Ukhrul has also issued wheel chairs for differently abled voters and the senior citizens.
The DEO, Ukhrul also said that in case of bad weather, air service may be used to move the poll parties to their designated polling stations.
Security have been beefed up in Ukhrul and Kamjong to ensure free, fair and safe conduct of the election on April 11 .
