HSLC exams: Training held for examiners

A 3-Day Training Programme for Examiners for the upcoming High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) organised by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM) was held at Churachand Higher Secondary School today.
The training will be held in three phase in accordance with the subjects and is participated by 1500 Examiners including examiners from private schools.
The main objective of the training programme is to increase the quality of checking answer sheets.
Th Kirankumar, Director, Education (S) said that to conduct the forthcoming HSLC examination in a free and fair manner, BOSEM is aiming towards improving the quality of the checking, testing, tabulation so as to improve of the quality of the results which will be declared.
The lists of examiners are quite old and it needs to be updated and expanded, he said adding that there is provision to include private schools teachers after due process of checking the necessary qualifications and work experience.
He stressed that to tap the potential and innovations of the students they will be given an opportunity to give their own answers provided it touches the concern keys.
He also urged the examiners to be very fair and thorough while giving marks and checking answer sheets.
He also informed that CCTVs will be installed in the examining halls to monitor the numbers of sheets collected by the examiners and to ensure that the examiners are regularly attending during the evaluation period.
He further stated that pens and identity cards will be provided to the examiners and no other pens other than that issued by BOSEM will be allowed.
Dr Chithung Mary Thomas, Secretary, BOSEM said that as done in the preceding years, 139 examination centres have been identified and admit cards will be issued shortly to 38,000 aspiring candidates.
Dr Thomas also clarified that private schools are being utilised as examination centres and Principals and teachers will be utilised as examiners and invigilators as their cooperation is needed for smooth conduct of the HSLC examination.
She stated that to improve the image of BOSEM, there is a need to improve every aspects of HSLC examination.
The role of examiners is paramount as their evaluation process will decide the rank of all the aspiring candidates.
The Secretary urged the evaluation trainees to be fair, objective, unbiased, consistent alert and to be careful while giving marks and also to refrain from making intentional mistakes.
