Kamjong, January 08 2020:
The Tangkhul Naga Zingsho Longphang (TNZL) has demanded a State Government inquiry into the alleged siphoning of fund for construction of barrack type quarters in Kamjong under Integrated Forest Management Scheme.
The project at an estimated cost of Rs 30 lakh was sanctioned during the 2018-19 financial year, and so far, the construction for forest office under the same scheme has been completed while the work for barrack type quarters has not begun till date, said a press release issued by TNZL.
Claiming that the final bill has been released for the barrack type quarters in March 2019 after submitting a false completion report and utilisation certificate, it added that a team of TNZL has conducted a spot inquiry of the worksite in Kamjong and found out that even the foundation work of barrack type quarters was not started.
In spite of repeated appeals, the department concerned has remained indifferent, it said urging the authorities concerned to look into the matter and take legal action against those who siphoned off the public fund at the earliest.
It also demanded all concerned to start constructing the proposed quarters at the earliest.
Saying that Chief Minister official visit to Kamjong and his plan to inaugurate and lay a foundation for various developmental programmes are laudable, it added that the State Government should also announce developmental packages for Kamjong in line with the same announcement that the Chief Minister had made during his official visit to other districts of the State.
