Imphal, January 08 2014:
Decrying that the first week of the year recorded 15 different cases of crime against women and chil-dren including the murder of three women and a child, the United NGO's Mission (UNM) Manipur and three other women organisations have urged the Government to book all the culprits without undue delay.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here this afternoon, UNM women committee co-convenor M So-bita observed that the first se- ven days of the year witness-ed murders of three women and a child, bomb blasts at five different places, two rape cases and dismantling of two houses as acts of mob justice.
Given such alarming crime rate, the Government should come out with some concrete measures which can control the rising crime rate.
Saying that the killing of 12 year old Sarif, murders of Sangomshumbam Sahida, Fa-rida Begum and Chaobi Bibi are all gruesome crimes, So- bita appealed to the Government not to sit idle in the face of such bestial criminal activities.
Questioning the motive behind the murder of Sarif by slitting open his abdomen, Sobita wondered if any organ of the boy had been transplanted.
She also appealed to exhume the body of Sarif for a second post mortem.
She questioned police inaction even after Md Siraj has reportedly confessed killing his wife Farida Begum.
She further raised a charter demands including setting up of a special investigation team to probe into all these murder cases and post mortem examination of the bodies of all the victims.
UNM district network Imphal East and Bishnupur member Sitara Begum, Md Nizamuddin, L Pishak, Domestic Violence Survivor Forum and Self Support Group secretary N Thoibi and S Premila were also present at the press meet.
