Kakching, February 07 2025:
With the first Assembly session of 2025 set to commence on February 10, the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has accused the BJP Government of transforming Manipur into a land torn apart by conflict.
Addressing the opening ceremony of "Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan Abhiyan" of Hiyanglam Block at Hiyanglam Awang Leikai today, MPCC president K Meghachandra said that the sounds of suffering and despair have filled the air of Manipur under the watch of the BJP Government.
It seems like the ruling MLAs have shifted their homes to the National capital, the Congress leader said while accusing them of not listening to the grievances of the people of even their respective Constituencies.
About the campaign, Meghachandra said that Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan Abhiyan aims to promote the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Ambedkar while safeguarding the Constitution.
Saying that the double engine Government, however, endorses the ideology of the person who assassinated the father of the Nation, he claimed that the BJP Government has been undermining the rights of the people and the Constitution.
The Government has been withholding local body elections which completed their terms nearly three years back, he said and added that these local bodies may miss out on development funds allocated by the 15th Finance Commission.
Prices of essential commodities have skyrocketed now, Meghachandra continued while accusing the BJP Government of tormenting the poor and working in the interest of big corporates like Adani and Ambani.
Claiming that the BJP Government has ruined Manipur in every aspect, Meghachandra appealed to the people to support the Congress party in the 2027 State Assembly election.
Ex-Minister L Jayantakumar and ex-MLA Fajur Rahim also attended the programme among others.
