Reinstate SSC exam centres in Ukhrul : ANSAM

The All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has petitioned the Regional Director (NER) of Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Government of India requesting reinstatement of SSC exam centres in Ukhrul district, Manipur.
The Naga student body said that this representation was being placed "before your good self and good office with regard to the cancellation notice of SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination, 2024 in exam centres of Ukhrul district, Manipur, for your kind consideration and immediate actions," the petition said.
As a matter of fact, SSC examinations have been conducted at Ukhrul district with centre code: 14446 from 2018 till 2023 successfully without any hindrance, the ANSAM pointed out.
ANSAM said it was perturbed by the "hasty move" of SSC, NER office and questioned "their intent and rationale of their actions that lack sound judgement" .
The ANSAM also said such "discriminatory act hurts our sentiments and the same actions appeared like tracking the Nagas into the bandwagon of the conflict and putting Nagas areas in the wrong light is highly uncalled for" .
The Naga student body further said, "As you are well aware, the Naga areas particularly Ukhrul district is a peace zone in the State of Manipur relatively as the Nagas are not party to the ongoing communal conflict in the State" .
ANSAM added that the said exam centre has all the basic feasibility for conducting the same examination and the safety and security of the examination functionaries are also well assured by the Ukhrul district administration.
Furthermore, the ANSAM said it would like to assure public support and cooperation in the conduct of same examination to ensure safety and security.
