CCPur police firing victim succumbs

A 20-year-old man, who was seriously wounded in a police firing during a commotion that occurred in front of Churachandpur District Police Station on June 30 in the aftermath of the leaked MMS scandal, died here in a private hospital after undergoing treatment for five days.
Lunmisiam Guite, who hailed from Jenhang locality under Lamka in Churachandpur district, had been undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute here after he got bullet injuries in the incident that happened when angry local residents tried to storm the district police station in protest against the four India Reserved Battalion (IRB) personnel who allegedly captured the sex video clip and uploaded in social media sites.
The four IRB personnel reportedly captured the video when a couple was in the act inside a restricted place in Khuga Dam complex in the district a few weeks back.
Lunmisian was hit by a bullet on his chest and breathed his last early morning today.
However, mother of deceased Lunmisian, has alleged that his son died from the negligence of the hospital authority.
She said that after an operation was successfully conducted for removing the bullet that hit her son's chest, the hospital authority had been keeping her son in the ICU.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Punngzathang Tonsing visited the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) mortuary to condole the death of Lunmisian after the body was brought to the RIMS mortuary for autopsy.
Talking to mediapersons outside the mortuary, the Minister assured that the Government will do everything related to the death and that all the police personnel involved in the firing, which claimed Guite's life, will be brought to justice.
Both the Chief Minister and the Home Minister will be consulted on the matter, he added.
After post-mortem, the body was handed over to the bereaved family members.
It may be noted here that in connection with the Khuga Dam sex tape video, the four accused IRB personnel identified as Havildar Nengsuanmung of New Lamka, Havildar T Sonlian Tungdim of Mata, Havildar Thiyam Chaoba of Thoubal and rifleman Ningthoujam Lokendro of Senjam Chirang Mayai Leikai have been placed under suspension by their concerned CO.
Home Minister Gaikhangam had also recently informed that a case had been registered with the Churachandpur District Police Station against the four IRB personnel in connection with the incident after placing them under suspension before taking them into custody.
It had been reported in certain media here that the sex tape video got posted on the internet and it went viral.
After the video was found uploaded on the social networking sites, angry local residents of Churachandpur town tried to storm and torch the district police station on June 30.But the police defused the situation by using live rounds and heavy tear gas shells wounding scores of protestors.
