Imphal, December 04 2024:
The elites of the Kukis and forces driving the conflict here are following the same strategy the Mizo National Front (MNF) used to carve out a Mizoram State from Assam, said Meetei (Meitei) Tribe Union (MMTU) .
The Kukis are applying the same strategy the MNF under Laldenga adopted from 1960 to carve out Lushai Hills from Assam and form Mizoram.
In the process to form a Christian country by carving out regions of India, Bangladesh and Myanmar, they are attacking and driving out the indigenous population, said MMTU in a statement.
To pave the way for formation of Mizoram, they killed hundreds of indigenous Tripuris and drove them out of their land, said MMTU, drawing parallel to what is being carried out here in Manipur.
Their demand for a Separate Administration or a territory is part of their larger vision to create a Christian country involving powerful countries like the USA, and as such, this challenge should be faced with extreme caution, it said.
The demand for "Kukiland" began as early as 1958 with their elites engaging in distorting historical facts to serve their interests, said MMTU.
KNO spokesperson Seilen Haokip is one of the elites who has distorted various contents of Grierson's Linguistic Survey of India Volume III published in 1904 to mislead Kuki people and falsely proveto India that they are "indigenous people", MMTU said.
When there have been various demands since 1958, the Paite National Council in 1960 submitted a demand to India's Prime Minister to form a territory for the Chins of Manipur, Myanmar and Bangladesh.
The mastermind of this demand was former Home Secretary T Kipgen, asserted MMTU.
In 2011, with the support of Kula outfits under the Suspension of Operation (SoO), the Kuki State Demand Committee raised a demand to the Prime Minister for a Kuki State.
In 2022, the Kuki State Demand Committee again submitted a memorandum with a warning to the Prime Minister for formation of a Kuki State within the territory of India, MMTU said, adding that the war against Meitei/Meetei community since May 3, 2023 is part of the same movement.
Even as indigenous population have been killed and driven out of their land, the Indian Government has "supported" the Kukis prioritising its geopolitical ambitions.
The Indian Government has set its eyes fixed only on the Kaladan Project, the Trans Asian Highway and resources in Manipur, asserted MMTU.
The Kuki Zo establishing an independent country of their own will remain an impossible dream.
The indigenous people of the State must understand the strategy and forces at play here and face the challenges consciously and decisively, said MMTU.
