Imphal, October 04 2023:
The Socialist Students' Union of Manipur (SSUM) has asked every club and locality to hoist black flag from October 6 onwards against the inability of the Government to locate and retrieve the bodies of Phijam Hemanjit and Hijam Linthoingambi who went missing in July.
Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club today, SSUM president S Yaima said that the two Meetei students were murdered in cold blood by Kuki narco-terrorists who intruded into Manipur illegally.
Condemning the murder, Yaima urged the Government to trace the mortal remains of the two innocent students and hand them over to their families to perform the last rites.
He also said that the people shouldn't stop demanding justice for the two students until the bodies are recovered and all guilty booked.
Saying that SSUM will not remain a mute spectator to the unfolding situation in Manipur, Yaima appealed to all Manipuris to lend a helping hand in delivering justice to the two Meetei students.
He further appealed to every club and locality to hoist a black flag from October 6 onwards against the failure of the Government to hand over the mortal remains of Hemanjit and Linthoingambi to their families.
On repeated closure of educational institutions, Yaima said that SSUM will launch a series of protests along with the people if the Government decides to close schools and other educational institutions without giving a valid reason.
