Imphal, October 04 2015:
A warm reception function was held today at Ningthoukhong Public Park in honour of Oinam Nabakishore who is the first among the Meiteis to be appointed to the prestigious post of Chief Secretary.
The reception function was jointly organised by local clubs, civil organisations and the general public of Ningthoukhong and the new Chief Secretary was presented several humble gifts.
Speaking at the gathering, O Nabakishore pledged to work towards bringing significant changes in the State's administration and also to make sure that the civil administration reaches every corner of the State.
"A joint meeting of Secretaries and Heads of Departments was held yesterday and they were told about my scheme of things.
I told them to capitalise on the ever advancing information technology and discharge their duties with dedication and transparency", said the new Chief Secretary.
He conveyed gratitude to Chief Minister O Ibobi and Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam for issuing his appointment letter on October 1 .
Saying that he was given the most responsible post of Chief Secretary because the Government has faith in him, Nabakishore declared that he would shoulder the responsibilities with a vision to establish a peaceful and progressive society.
He also exhorted young students to study hard so that they can become responsible citizens in future.
He advised all young students to respect teachers and seniors and also to discharge their duties with a sense of responsibility.
The new Chief Secretary continued that he was proud of all those qualified teachers who taught him.
Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam conveyed gratitude to the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Ministers and Cabinet colleagues for appointing Nabakishore to the post of Chief Secretary.
He exuded that the new Chief Secretary would work for uniform development of the State without any discrimination between the hills and valley.
Hill people had occupied the post of Chief Secretary four times and no objection was raised from any quarter.
It is rather unfortunate that some elements have been scheming to project the State Government as a communal Government just because a Meitei has been appointed to the post of Chief Secretary for the first time, Govindas said.
Floating false propaganda with a sinister intention to drive wedges between the hill people and plain people is not advisable, he added.
