Imphal, September 04 2024:
In the wake of the unprecedented terrorist activities of drone bombings carried out by Kuki militants, Meira Paibis have demanded removal of the Security Advisor and Director General of Police from their posts.
During a sit-in protest staged at Khuyathong Pukhri Achouba Mapal today, the women held the Security Advisor and DGP responsible for the attacks that occurred due to security "lapses" .
The sit-in protest was organised by the Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur and the All Manipur Womens' Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) .
Notably, military grade advanced drones were used for the first time by the Kuki militants to target civilians at Koutruk and some other places on September 1 .
A similar attack was also carried out at Senjam Chirang on Stepmber 2 .

The September 1 attack killed a woman identified as Ngangbam Surbala, a young married woman who was visiting her maternal home at Koutruk.
She was shot and killed on the spot and her minor daughter sustained bullet injury.
While several other persons including personnel of the State security forces were hurt in drone bombings, several houses and vehicles were torched by the Kuki militants in the attack.
During the protest at Khuyathong Pukhri Achouba Mapal today, the womenfolk said the Kuki militants were able to launch the terror attack at Koutruk due to the failures of Security Advisor, Kuldeip Singh and Director General of Police, Rajiv Singh.
When drones were used to drop bombs on civilians for the first time on September 1, the narco-terrorists continued to carry out similar attacks the next day emboldened by the inaction of the security forces, particularly the Central forces, they said.
The women protesters asserted that the Central security forces failed to retaliate and pursue the militants in the hills.
AMAWOVA president Y Kunjarani said the Kuki narco-terrorists are attacking the Meiteis with the aim to break Manipur apart.
She said the Government must not remain silent and take a firm resolution to drive out the narco-terrorists from the State.
She said the people hold the Security Advisor and the DGP responsible for the terror attack on civilians.
Instead of pursuing and cracking down on the militants who had launched the terror attacks, the security forces are conducting combing operations in places which came under attack, she said.
The recent escalation in the violence and the use of advanced drones to bomb civilians clearly indicates that the Security Advisor and DGP have failed in their jobs, Kunjarani said.
Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur president Soraisam Memcha also echoed the same concern that the security forces have failed to crack down on the militants who are carrying out terrorist attacks on civilians.
The organisation's general secretary, Thongam Apabi said the security forces shouldn't crack down on village volunteers when they aren't able to apprehend and subdue the real perpetrators of the terror attacks.
The elected leaders who are taking their chairs [positions] more seriously than any other issues must come to their senses and take a strong resolution to protect Manipur's integrity, she said.
