Imphal, August 04 2015:
Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has said that students are still agitated as Sapam Robinhood's body is still lying in the morgue without the last rites yet to be performed.
In a statement, JCILPS said that Robinhood's dream of implementation of ILPS in the State is yet to be fulfilled by the Government.
At this juncture, students are neither in a state to stay calm nor willing to attend classes, JCILPS said.
On the other hand, police excesses on irate students has further aggravated the situation, it added.
JCILPS said that police's excessive action, violent baton charging and dragging a girl student by her hair have provoked the students to intensify their stir.
As such, the Government must act with a political will and pass a Bill which can effectively safeguard the indigenous people of the State at the earliest to calm down the situation, JCILPS said.
It further said that people must support the ongoing agitation with a thorough understanding of its objective.
Saying that there is also the need to understand the agenda of divisive agents who spew venom among different sections of people, JCILPS urged the protesters not to prevent movement of media persons, people who need medical treatment, religious activities, medical staff such as doctors, nurses and ambulances etc, water supply and electricity staff.
JCILPS also demanded action against the police personnel who had demonstrated their 'might' through their excesses on agitating students.
