Imphal, April 04 2013: Dev Bahadur Chapagin, 'Sahitya Sevi Samman-2008' awardee of Nepali Sahitya Parishad Manipur, passed away at his Kanglatongbi residence on Wednesday.

Born on December 6, 1943, Dev Bahadur was a lover of language, culture and literature.

He played a key role in the establishment of Nepali Sahitya Parishad, Manipur in 1983 .

In recognition of his services, the Parishad awarded him Sahitya Sevi Samman in 2008 .

Besides his contribution in the field of literature and culture, Dev Bahadur worked as a Graduate Teacher in Kanglatongbi Hindi High School since 1965 and retired as a senior teacher from the school in 2003 .

He also served the Parishad as its Cashier.

His father, Premlal Chapagain was a famous Astrologer in Nepali community of Manipur, according to a statement issued by Nepali Sahitya Parishad, Manipur.

The Parishad has expressed condolence over the sad demise of Dev Bahadur, describing it as a great loss to the society.
