Surrenderees have no more utility to army: RPF

Imphal, January 04 2014 : Reacting to the army authori-ty's intimation to the State Go- vernment to take back former militants currently housed in their camps, the proscribed RPF has alleged that the Indian military forces do not like to take any more trouble of acco-mmodating the former militants for their utilities have exhaus-ted.

After a number of revolutionary cadres as well as civi- lians were lured to take part in surrender dramas with the false promise of recruitment in security establishments, monetary rewards and many other benefits, the so called surrenderees were used by the Indian military forces in many criminal and anti-social acti-vities like abduction for ran- som, murder, arbitrary detention, extortion in the name of revolutionary groups, triggering bomb blasts in civilian areas etc, said a press release issued by the outfit's publicity secretary Roben Khuman.

The outfit further tried to vindicate its claim/allegation by citing such cases as the ar-rest of MDF members by po- lice when they came to deli-ver demand letter to RIMS authority on February 23, 2013, the confrontation between police and Major Anand Kanti of 22 AR in the aftermath of the arrest of UTLA general secretary when he came to collect a sum of Rs 10 lakh on October 16, 2013 and the disclosures made by Thoudam Umakanta of Khurai Thoudam Leikai before media about his anti-social activities perpetrated when he was in an AR camp.

If the past is any indication, the Government of Ma- nipur would not do anything for proper rehabilitation of the so called surrendered cadres even if Indian military forces hand them over to the State Government.

Irrespective of whether one is a revolutionary cadre or civilian, Indian military forces and the State Government connived to present as many people as possible in their surrender dramas with the ulterior motive of projecting the liberation movement as a hopeless one.

There is no element of benevolence or genuine intention on the part of the State and military authorities to rehabilitate the so called surrenderees, the outfit alleged.

Saying that living one's life as a surrenderee under the control of adversary forces is like condemning himself/herself to life-long ignominy, the outfit appealed to all the people to treat the so called surrenderees with love and respect.
