A Myanmar national who entered Manipur (India) with forged documents was arrested by police today.
The arrested illegal immigrant has been identified as Md Nasiruddin (23) s/o late Abdul Hassan, informed a police source.
Md Nasiruddin was travelling in passenger van from Imphal to Moreh when the vehicle was halted at Pallel by police.
On checking the passengers, it turned out that Md Nasiruddin entered India and was travelling with forged documents.
On questioning, Md Nasiruddin said that he is a native of Arakan region, Myanmar.
He has been staying at Darool-Uloom Madrassa (orphan school), Lilong Turel Ahanbi since the past two months using forged driving licence and fake voter identity card.
Md Nasiruddin fled his home country and came to Manipur following the outbreak of communal between Buddhists and Muslims in Arakan region of Myanmar sometime back.
Since then, he has been taking refuge at the orphan school of Lilong Turel Ahanbi.
Sensing recurrence of similar communal riots, Md Nasiruddin was heading for Myanmar in the passenger van before he was intercepted by police at Pallel.
Md Nasiruddin is an extremist, said the police source.
He has been handed over to Kakching Police.
