Imphal, May 02 2016: Yumlembam Ritikanta alias Boy, BJP's lone Councillor of Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) has quit the party.

He is representing IMC Ward No 19 .

Ritikanta alias Boy joined BJP in 2011 and he became the lone BJP Councillor in IMC.

Apparently, not happy with the former BJP Manipur Pradesh president, Ritikanta tendered his resignation letter to the party office yesterday.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here this afternoon, Ritikanta alias Boy said that Ward No 19 has been reserved for women as far as the forthcoming IMC election is concerned.

Subsequently, the party president invited a woman to fight the election on BJP ticket although the same woman contested the last IMC election on Congress ticket.

"Although I'm the lone BJP Councillor in IMC, the party president never bothered to consult me before inviting the woman", Ritikanta decried.

He said that he decided to quit the party as the president was running the party on his own whims after undermining collective interests of the party.

IMC goes to polls on June 2 .
